ABOUT PADUA

Padua is a picturesque medieval city with a beautiful historic centre with countless sights and places to explore. Padua has a great architecture with gardens, museums, long portocoes and beautiful squares. The city is sorrounded by charming Venetian Villas.

Padua can offer a wilde range of places to dicover - from the famous University to the Scrovegni Chapel with its frescoes by Giotto, and from the Botanical Garden, (a UNESCO heritage site) to Prato della Valle, one of the largest squares in Europe. It is believed that Padua was founded by Antenor, a trojan prince and counsellor of King Priam of Troy, nowadays you can see the Antenor’s Tomb in the city centre few steps away from Palazzo Bo – the historical seat of the University of Padua.

One of the most famous route is the navigation from Padua to Venice along the Brenta Riviera. Mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy was visited by Casanova, Galileo, Byron and d’Annunzio and painted by Tiepolo and Canaletto. Travellers should try this route at least once on their lifetime.

Padua has also a dynamic university town and an important pilgrimage centre, but it is also an important industrial city – its industrial zone employs some 50,000 people.

The nearby Euganean Spas, the largest thermal basin in Europe, provide an idyllic oasis where guests can spend relaxing moments admiring the beautiful landscape offered by Euganean Hills.
